Tips for a Healthy Spring CCF tea

As we spring into spring in fits and starts, I will be offering some tips for the transition time. Just as we often do spring cleaning in our house and clean up winter's debris from our yards, we should also consider cleaning out our internal closets, removing sludge and excess fat that has accumulated over the winter so that we can revitalize and open to the new growth of spring and get our energy flowing more freely.
Today's tip: Drink CCF tea. CCF tea is made from equal parts of cumin, coriander and fennel seeds and has many benefits. It aids digestion, especially if you feel sluggish and promotes internal cleansing, which aids the detoxification process for a cleanse. It stokes the metabolism and digestive fire. It also restores vitality and is soothing and calming for the mind.

 CCF TEA
Mix equal parts cumin, coriander and fennel seeds together, and store in a glass jar. To make the tea, put 1 teaspoon of the mixture in a small saucepan, and dry roast the seeds on low heat until you smell a nice aroma, but do not burn them. It may take 30 seconds to 1 minute. Add 3 cups of cold filtered water to the pot, bring to a boil, cover and simmer for about 5 minutes. Turn the pot off, and let sit for at least 5 minutes before drinking. Strain, and enjoy. If you are mostly Vata or Kapha by nature, you can add up to 1 t of chopped fresh ginger after you add the water.
