More tips for staying healthy in the spring
season:
Consider trying a spring cleanse. When we do a gentle ayurvedic cleanse,
we detoxify the wastes that our bodies have accumulated over the winter, help
the body rejuvenate and support our overall health and wellness. During a
cleanse, which can be as short as a few days or at least a week, we slow down,
reflect and eat nutritious food, mostly kitchiri and fresh cooked
vegetables.
If you would like some guidance for embarking on
a cleanse, I will be offering a workshop with Debbie Martin at the Yoga Center
of Columbia on April 19th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
If you would like individual guidance on doing a
cleanse or diet and lifestyle advice in general, I am offering a spring special
on private consults. Contact me for details!
Start your day with warm lemon water. This is a
must if you are doing a cleanse, and it is a good daily practice for everyone
throughout the year. If you are fiery by nature (Pitta dosha) or in the heat of
the summer, you can use lime instead of lemon as it is more cooling.
Put the juice of 1/4 to 1/2 lemon in a cup of
warm water, and drink it first thing in the morning, before drinking or eating
anything else. Wait at least 20 minutes before having breakfast.
There are many benefits to drinking
lemon water such as boosting your immune system, helping with weight loss,
aiding digestion, balancing pH, flushing out toxins, and helping clear the skin.
It is also refreshing and tastes good!
