More Tips for Keeping Cool in the Summer and Cooking Workshop Reminder!

Reminder:  My Summer Cooking Workshop is next Monday, July 27th from 4 to 7 pm at my house in Silver Spring!
There are 2 spaces left.   If you have not yet committed and are able to come,  please let me  know.

We will all prepare the meal together, mixing spices too, and talking about the 6 tastes and the ones to emphasize in the summer.   After cooking, we will sit down  to eat and enjoy the dishes we made.

Hope to see you there!

Tips for Keeping Cool and Pacifying Pitta:

Remember to drink cool drinks, not iced.  Cool water is good plain or with 1/4 to 1/2 lime squeezed into it.  Water with fresh mint is refreshing as well.  Favor herbal teas with mint, fennel, licorice and hibiscus. You can add a little maple syrup to your drink.

Foster coolness by relaxing and grounding your energy.  Take a short nap during the day or listen to a relaxation practice or do a restorative pose.

Avoid being outside from 10 am to 2 pm.  Spend time in nature during the cooler times of day.  Take a walk in the moonlight.

Practice loving kindness by repeating a short phrase or mantra that speaks to you of compassion for yourself and others.   Examples are:  "May I/all beings be peaceful and at ease"; "May I/all beings be safe, happy and well".  "May I learn how to nourish myself with joy each day" or/and  "May all beings learn how to nourish themselves with joy each day".

Spray rosewater on your face and neck.  You can put a drop of essential oils of rose, jasmine or sandalwood on your wrists, center of your forehead, temples, neck, behind your ears and at your navel.

Wear light, breathable clothing and cool colors like blue and green.
