If you would like to learn how to strengthen your bones safely, consider
signing up for my Healthy Bones Workshop on Zoom this Sunday, April 18th
from 3:30 to 5:30.
We will go over the 12 poses (and others currently under study) that have
been shown to build bone density and reduce risk of fractures, when practiced in
a particular way. These poses can be adapted for all levels of yoga, and each
version builds bone and improves posture and balance. This is a good refresher
for those who have taken a Healthy Bones Workshop or Class, for yoga teachers
and for anyone who would like an introduction to building stronger bones and
reduce your risk of falling. Also covered will be poses and movements to
avoid. We will talk about good foods for building bone strength. Below
is one of the poses we will be doing: it is especially good for the spring,
Kapha season, when we want to open the chest and side body.

If you would like a personal consult for poses and diet to build up bone
strength in lieu of or in addition to the workshop, please get in touch at dhelfeld@starpower.net.
Speaking of good foods, I posted a recipe for Lemon Rice.
Below is a picture. Next week I will post a kitchari recipe that includes
asparagus, which I posted last spring as well. Once local asparagus is ready, I
encourage you to prepare it. Asparagus is one vegetable that is balancing for
all doshas (vata, pitta, kapha).
