I hope you had a safe and healthy new year.
To get us off to a good start in 2022, I will be ordering Products from
Banyan Botanicals (see below for recommendations), and here is a Poem for the
New Year that I am reading in my classes this week:
Joyful Noise by Danna Faulds
Pick up the trumpet
and put it to your lips.
Who cares that you
don’t know how to
blow or where to
place your fingers?
Your joyful noise
will make a difference
in this world.
Are you so sure you
know what music is
that you would resist
the impulse, silence
the notes that rise
from who knows where?
Far better to risk failure
than never hear the
melody that’s been
waiting for a lifetime
to be shared.
If you live
within an easy drive from Silver Spring, MD and would like me to buy some items from
Banyan Botanicals for you (at a 15% to 20% discount and no shipping charge) ,
here are some products I like. They are all organic. Get In touch by Friday,
January 14 if interested. dhelfeld@starpower.net
Nasya
oil: Keeps sinuses moist and helps keep toxins out of your nasal
passages (especially great during these Covid times), especially good in dry and
cold weather.
Chyawanprash:
A jam like paste which is a strong antioxidant and supports proper
functioning of the immune system and is nourishing for the body.. Its main
ingredient is Amla, an Indian fruit that has 20 times the amount of vitamin C as
an orange.
Massage
Oils: Good in all seasons but especially helpful to massage your body
when the weather is dry and cold. Oil massage provides lubrication to the body,
is grounding for the nervous system, nourishes the tissues, and is a wonderful
self-care practice. The Daily Massage Oil is good for everyone, and there are
dosha specific oils as well.
Beauty
Balm and Joint Balm: Beauty Balm is a good general moisturizer,
especially for the face, neck and hands. Joint Balm is good for all joints, and
I use it frequently for my knees.
Ghee:
Has many wonderful properties for digestive and all around
health.
Indian
Spices: Most spices are available. They also have organic split mung
dal, which can be hard to find, and organic basmati rice.
